Sing
In January 1973 the Carpenters went to the NBC studios to tape a Robert Young Special and were asked to perform a tune from Sesame Street with Arte Johnson, Sandy Duncan, Robert Young, and a children's group.Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad.
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not
Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song.
Sing, sing a song
Let the world sing along
Sing of love there could be
Sing for you and for me.
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not
Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song.
- Joe Raposo
The Carpenters' version, which Richard was arranging right at the TV studio, features The Jimmy Joyce Children's Choir. It went on to become their seventh gold single.
I still prefer the Sesame Street version though.
