Finally got my domain renewed, it took much longer than I expected and was a lot more effort than was strictly speaking neccessary.

The company I'd registered my domain through, Fast 24 Ltd. went bust and they had used another company to register the domain anyway, Bulk Register. Bulk Register was bought buy a company called eNom about a year ago and they are based in the USA on the Pacific coast, which meant a lot of long distance late night phone calls.

Once I'd proved that I was the owner of the domain it should have been attached to my newly created eNom account on the same day but the contact at eNom, Elida, kept failing to add the domain to the eNom accuont. After three days of pestering her daily I finally managed to get her to do it, so that I could renew the domain.

Well it is all sorted now but I really, really don't want to be doing that again any time soon. Once I transfer my domain to a better registrar I think that I'm going to take out a 10 year renewal and then I'll be okay, at least until 2017.

Wiltshire

Went to witshire to visit my dad today, it was a lovely day so we went for a walk around Barbury Castle, which lies on the Ridgeway (an ancient trackway described as Britain's oldest road. It is an 85 mile (137km) route that follows the chalk hills between Overton Hill, near Avebury and Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire.)



It was very picturesque (you'll have to take my word for it as we left the digital camera at home). Barbury castle isn't a castle per se, just a circular fortification around where the castle was, but it was interesting nonetheless to think of the effort that went into building the fortifications.

After Barbury Castle we went to Stanton Park which was if I'm honest not that interesting. Probably beacuse it has been quite dry, but as there is a lake there I was hoping to see more wildlife.

As I'm writing this I know that you cannot read it. I came home to find out that my domain had expired. The company I'd paid to renew it has dissapeared. Hopefully my blog will be back tomorrow once I've sorted it all out.

A meta movie! 300 is based upon a graphic novel by Frank Miller whose graphic novels have been quite popular with Hollywood recently with his graphic novels of Daredevil, Batman Returns, Elektra, Sin City all been turned into films. The graphic novel itself was based on the 1962 film "The 300 Spartans".

The Frank Miller version is not intended to be historically accurate, and the remake isn't nearly as detailed as the original movie, but all the same if you take it for what it is, an entertaining story in a historical setting then it is ... entertaining.

Yes there were a few bugbears but it you are going to suspend belief enough to enjoy the film then you'll let them slide, on the whole I thought that it was worth watching.
